Essential Life Skills for Teaching Independence

HANDLING WARS ABOUT CHORES
Preparing children for real life means teaching them how to do
laundry, cook, clean, maintain a car and more.
Children who feel capable and genuinely needed
misbehave less than children who are pampered.
This active learning workshop explores the
Significant Seven Perceptions and Skills that promote
self-reliance in children and teens,
teaches family tools for assigning age appropriate chores and
helps parents practice follow-through techniques.

and recovery skills.

Who Teaches the Classes?
INSTRUCTOR:
Our trainer, Kelly Pfeiffer, wife and mother of four is a trained parent
facilitator and has educated parents using the "Parenting the Positive
Discipline Way" curriculum in Upstate South Carolina since 2000.  A
graduate of Furman University, Kelly serves as a Certified Positive
Discipline Associate/Trainer for the Positive Discipline Association
and a Master Certified Child Care Trainer for the South Carolina Child
Care Training System.


What Curriculum or Philosophy is used?

CONTENT:
Adapted from the nationally-recognized Positive Discipline curriculum, all classes are based on the ideas of teaching life skills to children, focusing on family solutions, teaching children problem solving skills and supporting healthy family bonding.


Are there any religious elements to the class?

No. Although many of the parent workshops locations are hosted by churches and held inside houses of worship,  no religious teaching is included in the class. The Positive Discipline curriculum teaches principles of mutual respect for all people.

Is the class suitable for parents of any age child?
Yes, this parent workshop will help parents with any age children, from
birth to adult aged children. The class concepts will work with all
ages and can be easily adapted for age appropriateness.
