CONTENT:
Adapted from the nationally-recognized Positive Discipline curriculum, this four week class focuses on parenting skills surrounding the emotional health of all family members. Content includes home stress management, healthy self expression skills, communication strategies and de-escalation tools.


INSTRUCTOR:
Our trainer, Kelly Pfeiffer, wife and mother of four is a trained parent facilitator and has educated parents using the "Parenting the Positive Discipline Way" curriculum in Upstate South Carolina since 2000.  A graduate of Furman University, Kelly serves as a Certified Positive Discipline Associate/Trainer for the Positive Discipline Association and a Master Certified Child Care Trainer for the South Carolina Child Care Training System.

Are there religious elements of the class?
No, Aldersgate United Methodist Church is graciously donating the meeting space for the workshop. "Parenting the Positive Discipline Way" curriculum is a secular based parenting curriculum that works well with a variety of religious beliefs.

Is the class suitable for parents of any age child?
Yes, this parent workshop will help parents with any age children, from birth to adult aged children. The class concepts will work with all ages and can be easily adapted for age appropriateness.

Is the class helpful for parents who have children with special physical and behavioral needs?
Yes, this class will offer content that applies to all children including children with special physical or behavioral needs. This class is especially helpful to parents of children with behavioral challenges and will offer parents new tools to help children deal with strong emotions.
